Description of Technical Expertise:

Specializing in consulting assignments that require technical and problem solving experience, particulary in reliability and availability engineering, prediction, failure analysis, risk assessment, and related fields. Specialties include: simulation, modeling, prediction for reliability, availability, maintainability, and spares calculation. Proficient with RBD reliability block diagram program, including the use of the optional Monte Carlo calculations for the analysis of complex process systems, chemical plants, cogen facilities, power plants, telecommunications and 911installations, as well as water and wastewater plants. Also, experienced with networks and data centers, high availability power, back-up and emergency power, N+1 and N+2 requirements, UPS, batteries, Diesel generators, gas turbines, HVAC, chillers and towers, CRAC units, and building cooling systems. Some analyses may utilize FMEAs, fault trees, event trees, failure analyses, spares planning, or risk assessment. The reliability block diagram and Monte Carlo analyses are usually used for complex electro-mechanical system analyses. For printed circuit boards, electronics, and controls, the MIL HDBK-217 prediction procedure is typically used with military systems and the Belcore/Telcordia prediction program with telecom and commercial systems. There is normally no charge for the initial consultation. Subsequent work is performed under a written contract on either a fixed price or fee basis.

• Software Tool Expertise:  Predictions utilize the new Relex RBD program for reliability block diagram modeling. This permits Monte Carlo calculations and modeling of complex systems, including bridge networks, switching probabilities, switching time, and spares considerations.  Reliability predictions for electronic systems and controls are performed using software for either the MIL HDBK-217 procedure or the Relex Telcordia procedure
