• April 2000 to present – Developing and qualifying advanced manufacturing methods, materials and processes based on patented technology for spacecraft photovoltaic arrays. (ref. Patent #6,555,739)

• February 2000 to present - engineering services provided to Northrop Grumman, Azusa CA - Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) program. Perform power subsystem design, development, analysis, test, integration, and sub-contract technical management and procurement of dc-dc converters.

• January 2002 to March 2002 - engineering services provided to Aeroflex Laboratories, Plainview, NY in support of ATMS program. Performed system design, power packaging, circuit analysis and trade study, and thermal analysis.

• March 2002 to present- independent R&D provided to InterWeave Inc., Sacramento, CA in support of SBIR submittal.

• July 2002 to present – engineering services provided to Northrop Grumman, Azusa CA – SBIRS HEO and GEO programs. Perform I&T support, requirements verification and validation, circuit and system analysis, test, and documentation.

Principle Hardware Development Manager

• Led a team of 6 cross-functional design engineers in the design, development, integration and test of system electronics. Hardware development included power system design, FPGA, ADC, DAC, analog circuit design, digital design, power circuit design, analysis and simulation. Performed complete product development including dc-dc converters, PCB design, procurement, assembly, integration and test, system packaging design, thermal and structural analysis and test. Provided technical subcontract management of 2 major suppliers – the spacecraft battery system and the spacecraft solar arrays.

Principal Sr. Staff Engineer / Manager Advanced Hardware Development

• Led a cross-functional team in the design and development of major new technologies, leading to 2 patents and considerable reductions in recurring cost and cycle time.

• Developed high reliability control, interface and power conversion multi-chip modules using patented HDI technology. Employed die level silicon analog, digital, and power IC and discrete components.

• Developed modular Power Bus Assembly system incorporating "plug and play" features utilizing flex circuit technology and special non-contact current sensor technology.

• Invented Thermally Activated Bypass Switch (TABS – patent #5,510,598) – autonomous open circuit battery cell failure protection device currently flying on A2100 spacecraft.

• Developed novel Advanced Power Modules utilizing low modulus thermally conductive thermoset epoxies and qualified low cost lead attach process for SMD components.

• Invented automatic solid-state by-pass switch for lower current failure detection and protection (patent #5,898,239).

• Developed a new class of direct powered heater controllers for EOS.

• Led the DMSP Solar Array production group – provided leadership and coordination of 65-member team. Re-established "lost recipe," identified near term and strategic needs and plans.

Program Manager

• Managed a 28 person cross-functional team in the development of a passive infrared search and track system for the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF YF-22).

• System used closed cycle cryo-cooler technology and InSb/MCT focal plane arrays, high-speed common integrated processor and high data rate fiber optic interfaces.

• Responsible for $22M budget.

• Led design engineering teams in the development of spacecraft electronics. Technologies included 2-4GHz RF design, analog, power and digital subsystem and circuit design.
